Less crowded than Beijing I'd say. Transportation is great. Parks are fantastic (Suzhou is not far from Shanghai...) Yuyuan Garden for example is really nice. Unfortunately, as you mention, there is a lot of construction right now for the world expo. For example, the Bund is closed... I look forward to reading your impressions on the Shanghai and Dalian !
