BE CAREFUL - if you do the restore to prepare for 3.0, if all your apps are neatly organized using Categories and you don't put them all back on the Springboard first, you will lose all your app data! It appears it stores the apps in a hidden location. If you restore from a backup all apps that were in categories disappear. If you restore from scratch then you can reinstall all the apps, but all data stored in them will be gone. It is SUCH a pain. My only option at this point would be to restore again from the backup, re-jailbreak the phone, move all the apps out of Categories and then restore again. I am on the fence here...

@Chris I haven't had any issues since removing the jailbreak. Everything works fine. In fact, I'm writing this with my phone right now

My thoughts exactly, i installed jailbreak because of backgrounder for instant messenger apps (got tired of apples broken promise of push notifications). Now that 3.0 is around the bend I need to revert back from jailbreak. There are two ways i guess. 1. wait for 3.0 and install that and jailbreak will be gone (problems???? nobody knows, end i dont want to test that). revert to old 2.2.1 without jail break.
My question is have you experianced any problems with the jailbreak backup after reverting? I read that there could be some issues with the backup after jailbreak is gone and using the backup from the time that jailbreak was done. The issues seem to be runtime and the backup will go fine to the device.

[...] Eric Wroolie created an interesting post today on Removing an iPhone Jailbreak is surprisingly easyHere’s a short outlineYesterday morning I bought the National Rail app (nice app) which would not let me see the full train times because my custom font was not the font they tested with. So, the train times showed up as “06:..London Paddington” which is … [...]
